Grease and Base Oil Flow

Lubricating grease is a visco-elastic material where possibility oil separation takes place. At high velocities (or rather shear rates) the grease flows like oil. At lower velocities the solid character of the grease causes shear thinning, wall slip and plug flow. This will be described in this chapter with applications to pipe flow (lubrication systems), rotating bearing flow and relubrication flow.
