ADJUSTING AND HANDLING OIL SPILL POLLUTION CATASTROPHE CLAIMS

ABSTRACT Large oil spills create claims adjusting and handling problems quite different from those associated with regular claims. The differences are made clear in this paper, which deals with types of claims, the approaches to them, damage assessment, and the future of oil spills adjusting. The resolution of claims in such a way as to be acceptable to both the public and the spiller rests on the adjuster's complete fairness and thorough consideration of all claims.
