Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α activation can attenuate renal podocyte injury and alleviate proteinuria in rats in a simulated high-altitude environment

The podocyte injury may be involved in the occurrence of proteinuria after rapid ascent to high altitude. PHI may have a potential role in reducing proteinuria by upregulating local HIF-1α expression in the kidney to alleviate podocyte injury.
