Sitting of Brown Ferry Nuclear Plant

The siting of a generating plant is becoming more difficult and complex. Pressures of population growth increases competition from industrial and recreation interests for land suitable for plant sites. Factors that must be considered in siting a nuclear plant include a determination of where the power is needed, transmission connections, access, cooling water, meteorology, geology, seismology, population distribution, and exclusion area. In siting generating plants, the electric power industry must also consider the potential effects on air and water quality. The TVA Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant has met all site considerations and has been designed to be a good neighbor.
