AIM: To compare the therapeutic effects of cisapride and Bianbitong in treating infantile constipation. METHODS: Cisapride group of 34 patients (M 18,F 16; age 1.7 a± s 1.3 a) were treated with cisapride 0.2 mg·kg -1 , po, tid for 7 d. Bianbitong group of 34 patients (M 21,F 13; age 1.7 a±1.5 a) were treated with Bianbitong 3 5 mL, po bid for 7 d. RESULTS: The total effective rate were 94% and 76% on cisapride group and Bianbitong group respectively (Ridit's analysis: P 0.05). And no adverse reactions were observed in both groups. CONCLUSION: Cisapride therapy on infantile constipation is better than Bianbitong.
