The main concept of base isolation system is to reduce the
member forces by decreasing the earthquake forces transmitted
to supersturcture instead of the conventional techniques of
strengthening the structural members. This paper is to analyze
dynamic behavior of buildings with LRB(Laminated Rubber Bearing)
type base isolator which is the most common base isolation system. The quation of motion of the base isolated structure is derived
from coupling the two equation for superstructure and isolator.
In this paper, onlu the first mode pf supersuructure is considered,
because the first mode contributes in excess of 80% of the total
motion.
