Abstract Clean water resources have become the focus of global attention. The rapid detection of water pollution and the rapid evaluation of NaCl content in water is an important evolution the quality of water or soil in environment and agriculture. The main method analysis the content in water or soil is based on laboratory chemical tests at present. In this paper, we used a method based on a non-uniform microwave sensor array to determine the concentration of NaCl in water. Based on the experiment data, empirical formulas obtained between the concentration of NaCl in water and different electromagnetic frequency which can be used for NaCl content estimation. The results of the study demonstrated the feasibility of microwave sensors in detecting chemical content in water, and as basic experiment for further study for water pollution.
