Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes mellitus is present when fasting blood glucose is ≥7.0 mmol/l, the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is ≥11.1 mmol/l, or glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is ≥6.5% or ≥48 mmol/mol. The diagnosis of diabetes mellitus can also be made with a random blood glucose level ≥11.1 mmol/l and the simultaneous presence of symptoms (weight loss, diuresis, fatigue, excessive hunger, etc.) of diabetes mellitus.
