Chemical Constituents from the Root of Polygala fallax Hemsl.

AIM:To investigate the chemical constituents of Polygala fallax hemsl. METHOD:The methanol extraction was suspended in H 2 O and then extracted with EtOAc. Column chromatography was used for separation and purification,and spectral analysis was used for identification of theis chemical structures. RESULT: Eight compounds were isolated and identified as 1-hydroxy-2,4-dimethoxyxanthone(I); 1,2,3-trimethoxyxanthone(II); 1-methoxy-2,3- methylenedioxy-xanthone(III); 1,7-dihydroxy-2,3-methylenedioxyxanthone(IV); 6-hydroxy-1-methy-oxy-2,3-methylenedioxyxanthone(V); hederagenin(VI); β-Sitosterol(VII); stigmas terol(VIII). CONCLUSION:Compound I was a new natural product ,V was a new compound, and all the above compounds were isolated from Polygala fallax Hemsl. for the first time.
