Epidemiological study of congenital hypothyroidism in Beijing from 1994 to 2007

【Objective】In order to obtain epidemiological distribution of congenital hypothyroidism(CH) in Beijing area. 【Method】All statements related to neonatal screening and case information were made descriptive analysis and statistical inference. 【Result】From 1994 to 2007,336 children with CH were confirmed in Beijing,the total prevalence rate was 0.28‰,the prevalence rate of CH was higher in female newborns(0.42%) than in male newborns(0.28%),the sex ratio was 1∶1.5. 【Conclusion】The prevalence rate of CH shows upward trend in Beijing,the female newborns and those with older mothers may be the high-risk population of the CH.
