摘要
Thin coatings are typically intended to have tribological, electrical, optical, magnetic, heat resistant, corrosion-resistant, biocompatible, and ornamental properties. Hard coatings deposited using sophisticated technologies such as PVD and CVD, for example, can easily meet this criterion. Despite the fact that various types of thin hard coatings are now commonly employed in industries for better service than uncoated samples, thin coatings have yet to reach market maturity. An important explanation is that very good adhesion coatings are consistently produced, but the possibility of producing a coating with weak adherence remains, resulting in coating failure. The importance of self-healing coatings and smart coatings, which include a lot of functionality to improve corrosion resistance, is emphasized. Chemical engineering has recently made success in incorporating functions such as super hydrophobic agents, corrosion inhibitors, and anti-fouling agents, as well as organic and synthetic matrix alterations. In this paper, we examined the numerous methods used to synthesize boron nitride-based thin film coatings in various dimensions, as well as their attributes and potential applications.
