Abstract The reaction of ΔL-[Co(L-Hcys-N,S)(en)2](ClO4)2 with NaOH and AgClO4 in a 2:2:1 ratio in water gave a 2:1 (Co:Ag) adduct, (ΔL)2-[Ag{Co(L-cys-N,S)(en)2}2]3+ ((ΔL)2-[1]3+), while the corresponding reaction with AgNO3 led to the isolation of a 3:1 adduct, (ΔL)3-[AgNa{Co(L-cys-N,S)(en)2}3]5+ ((ΔL)3-[2]5+). The discrete trinuclear structure in (ΔL)2-[1]3+ and the 2D polymeric structure in (ΔL)3-[2]5+ were determined by X-ray crystallography.
