Taking the Ordovician Wufeng Formation-Silurian Longmaxi Formation as an example of shale gas development in the Southern Sichuan Basin and its periphery. According to the guiding of “Lithofacies paleogeographical research and mapping compilation can be a guide for shale gas geological survey” and methods of area selection evaluation, lithofacies paleogeography and basic geological conditions of shale gas of the Ordovician Wufeng Formation-Silurian Longmaxi Formation in this area have been carefully studied, and potential shale gas areas have been selected.
