For precious metals utilized in jewelry, to preserve the surface luster, prevent scratches, and avoid the formation of surface oxidation layers, it is essential to adopt some provisional protective measures. In this research, ethyl cellulose (EC) and its composite film were prepared by phase conversion method. The results of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) indicated that the film impedance increases significantly with the increase of MXene content. This observation suggests that ion penetration becomes more difficult as MXene content increases, which may be attributed to the enhanced barrier properties of the composite film. After a short time of acid treatment, the membrane impedance remained above 10 kΩ. SEM cross-section and surface images showed that the pores in EC composite films were gradually filled with the increase of MXene content. The tensile test results demonstrated that the maximum stress and fracture strain of EC film can be adjusted by adding MXene. This suggests that MXene plays a key role in enhancing the mechanical strength of EC composite films.
