Analyses of aeromagnetic survey results were done on areas of Samchok & Munkyung coal fields using residual magnetic anomaly map, second derivative magnetic anomaly map, and downward continuation map. These maps were compiled from the total magnetic intensity map of Apache`s aeromagnetic survey, which was carried out in Korea from 1958 to 1960. From the interpretation of aeromagnetic anomalies, followings were found as qualitatively. Second derivative magnetic anomaly map generally defines or shows lineaments of igneous or metamorphic rocks having high magnetic susceptibility and also of intrusive rocks near surface, widely distributed in the regions of coal fields. Residual magnetic anomaly map and downward continuation map show deep structures of basins of coal fields. When the detailed analysis for quantitative interpretation is achieved, this method will appear very useful in the structural analysis of basins of coal fields.
