The durability of three kinds of thermal barrier coatings (TBC) developed in order to improve durability;(1) porous ceramics type TBC, (2) 4 layers type TBC, (3) columnar ceramics type TBC, was studied with the plasma heating cycle test which simulated the temperature condition of actual gas turbine. The results was that porous type TBC showed the durability of about 3 times, 4-layers TBC showed the durability of about 6 times, and columnar ceramics type TBC showed the durability of 10 times or more, as compared with conventional type TBC. There are few horizontal defects in columnar ceramics type TBC compared with other TBCs, therefore the improvement in durability of this type TBC was remarkable.
