Unlike CS2.5H0.5PW12O40, СS2.5 Η0.5Ρ W12 O40- SiO2 composites combined using (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane are entirely insoluble and well sedimentable in reaction mixtures that contain a large excess of water. The catalytic activities of the composite for the hydrolysis of ester (ethyl acetate and 2-methylphenyl acetate) and hydration of α-pinene in the presence of excess water were comparable to those of CS2.5H0.5PW12O40and were much higher than those of typical solid acids, such as H-ZSM-5, H-β, Nb2O5, and polymer-resins.
