Therapeutic Effect of Kangtai Capsule on Rats Models with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and on Mice Models with Diarrhea

Objective To observe the effect of Kangtai Capsule on rats irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)induced by neonatal maternal separation,and to explore its anti-diarrhea on diarrhea mice.Methods The rat models of IBS were induced by neonatal maternal separation method.The threshold of abdominal rebound reflex(ARR)and the amount of defecation induced by water immersion in rats were adopted as observation indexes to evaluate the therapeutic effect.The anti-diarrhea effect of Kangtai Capsule was observed in mice models of diarrhea induced by Folium Sennae.Results Kangtai Capsule increased the threshold of visceral sensitivity pressure and reduced visceral sensitivity in IBS rat models(P0.05 or P0.01).The rat defecation amount was reduced in Kangtai Capsule groups,and the effect was the best in high-dose Kangtai Capsule group(P0.05).The accumulative frequency of defecation within 4 and 6 hours in mice was significantly reduced(P0.05 or P0.01) in middle-and high-dose Kangtai Capsule groups.Conclusion Kangtai Capsule has certain therapeutic effect for rat IBS induced by neonatal maternal separation,and has anti-diarrhea effect in mice.
