Objective To analyze the therapeutic effect of the shunting surgery for hydrocephalus.Meth-ods 95 patients with hydrocephalus were treated with ventriculo-peritoneal shunt.The mediun-pressure shunts were the priority of choice.Results The recovery of neurorehabilitation of the cases were assessed by standard of Salmon after the operations.44 cases recovered to normal,38 cases improved obviously,8 cases improved gently and 4 cases were not obviously changed.No patient died from the operation.Conclusion Ventriculo-peritoneal shunt is still the most common method for patients with hydrocephalus at present.Choosing the opti-mal shunt apparatus and time and decreasing postoperative complications may play an important role in improv-ing the outcome of shunting surgery for hydrocephalus.
