The Maximum Power Point Tracking(MPPT) is one of the important methods of improving power conversion efficiency for small wind-power generation systems.The paper presents a variable step perturbation MPPT method,and a simulation model with the method for small wind-power generation systems is developed under MATLAB environment.The model includes wind turbine,PMSG,DC/DC chopper,load power sample and MPPT control and so on.By using this model,computer simulation has been carried out,and simulation results of load power and output power of PMSG are given under a kind of wind speed.The results show that the simulation of the MPPT control is completed,and compared with the traditional fixed step-size MPPT method,the precision and rapidity of tracking the maximum power point are improved,and further including the conversion efficiency of wind energy.
