Structural and biological research progress of testicular cells

Testis is male sex gonad,which contains small convoluted seminiferous tubules and interstitial connective tissue.The germinal epithelium of seminiferous tubule produces male germ cells known as spermatozoa.The seminiferous epithelium is an unusual,complex stratified epithelium with two major cell populations:spermatogenic cells and Sertoli cells.In interstitial connective tissue between seminiferous tubules are clusters of Leydig cells which produce androgen.In this paper,the development and differentiation of the testicular cells,as well as the structural and biological research progress of adult testicular cells are reviewed.
