Evidence-based pharmacoecomics evaluation on citalopram and fluoxetine in treatment of depressive disorder

AIM To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of citalopram and fluoxetine in the treatment of depressive disorders.METHODS The Clinical data of citalopram and fluoxetine from six papers about the treatment of depressive disorders were collected by evidence-based medicine method and were evaluated with cost-effectiveness analysis.RUSULTS The cure rates of citalopram and fluoxetine in the treatment of depressive disorders were 46.0% and 41.5% (P 0.05),and the corresponding cost-effectiveness were 1 205.87 and 1 130.39,respectively.CONCLUSION The cost-effectiveness of fluoxetine is superior to citalopram in the treatment of depressive disorders.
