A three-frequency microwave radiometer was completed in 1990 in the Laboratory of Space Technology, HUT. The instrumentwas designed to be installed onboard a helicopter. Functional description of the radiometer will be given along with its performance parameters. The radiometer is used for remote sensing of snow, ice and forest. Measurements made with this radiometer have been used for developing inversion algorithms for retrieving snow water equivalent from the microwave brightness temperature. Other snow parameters of interest are snow cover extent, depth of snow and onset of snow melting.
