The Application of Discussing Method in English Listening Class

The society and the English Teaching Outline require the higher ability of students' listening and speaking. In order to satisfy the need of these requirements, training the ability of listening and speaking in listening class is very important. At present, there are three teaching methods are used in class: listening in order, listening and explaining, listening with choices. There are shortcomings more or less in these methods. To solve these problems and let students practice more during the class time, a new teaching method is used in listening class—— discussing method. In class, students use “guess-listen-guess-discuss-listen-discuss” method actively to listen the materials. This method can train communication ability of students, form a very good language habit and improve students' listening ability.
