Towards the Implementation of a Dual-Frequency Dual-Polarization Stacked Patch Array

A dual-frequency, dual-polarization microstrip antenna array that operates at 1.25 GHz (L-band) and 9.65 GHz (X-band) is proposed for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) applications. The antenna uses a perforated L-band patch topology with X-band patches integrated into the same planar geometry. Stacked patches are used to meet bandwidth requirements. We present design aspects, simulation, and measurement results for the prototype design that was successfully fabricated.
