The thesis deals with an innovative approach known as social prescribing and the concept of healthy ageing. This thesis aims to analyse the key aspects of healthy ageing based on a literature review, with an emphasis on the problem of social isolation and loneliness among the elderly. The theoretical part of the thesis first defines healthy ageing in its physical, mental and social forms. It then discusses the concept of social prescribing in detail, including its definition, historical development worldwide, and the principles and mechanisms of its functioning. The paper shows that social prescribing represents a promising person-centred strategy that effectively contributes to enhancing quality of life, promoting mental well-being and preventing loneliness in old age through non-medical interventions.
