An Analysis on Incidence of Esophageal Cancer from 2008 to 2010 in Yongkang City,Zhejiang Province

[Purpose] To investigate the incidence of esophageal cancer from 2008 to 2010 in Yongkang city,Zhejiang province. [Methods] The data of medical record of new patients with esophageal cancer were collected from Yongkang Medical Security Office and Yongkang First People’s Hospital. The data covered a population of 1 703 031 person-year(male 868 777 person-year, female 834 254 person-year). Incidence,age-specific incidence,age-standardized incidence and proportion were analyzed.Chinese population sensus in 1982 and Segi’s population were used for age-standardized incidence. [Results] The total newly diagnosed cancer cases from 2008 to 2010 were 4 194,and the new esophageal cancer cases were 127 with a proportion of 3.03%.The crude incidence of esophageal cancer was 7.46/10 5 (male 8.98/10 5 ,female 5.87/10 5 ),age-standardized incidence by Chinese standard population(ASR China) was 4.32 /10 5 (male 5.58/10 5 ,female 3.07/10 5 ) in Yongkang city.The age-specific incidence increased with age increased,and the 70～ years old group reached the highest level with incidence of 69.91/10 5 . [Conclusion] The incidence of esophageal cancer is still high in Yongkang city from 2008 to 2010,prevention and control for esophageal cancer should be strengthened.
