Progress of inorganic nanoparticles as targeted drug nanocarriers

There have been significant advances in utilizing bio-nanomaterials for biomedical applica-tions,in particular,it is promising for applying drug nanocarriers in the fields of targeted drug delivery,controlled drug release and targeted cancer therapy by employing inorganic nanoparticles including magnetic nanoparticles,mesoporous silica,carbon nanomaterials,and quantum dots.Moreover,the capability of simultaneous imaging,targeted drug delivery and tumor treatment with nanoparticles may prove advantageous over conventional chemotherapy drug carriers.This paper reviewed the current researches about inorganic nanoparticles especially multifunctional nanoparticles as drug nanocarriers.
