Cutaneous malignant melanoma(CMM),a rapidly progressive skin cancer, originated from melanocytes and associated with variety of factors(hyperproliferation, inactivation or mutation of tumor suppressor genes, and genetic factors, etc.),is not sensitive to conventional therapy. Autophagy is a homeostatic, catabolic degradation process, which is associated with tumorigenesis. Recent studies show that autophagy genes,Beclin 1 and MAP1LC3,play a dual role in tumor development, promoting and suppressing tumorigenesis. Nowadays,it is hotspots to study targeted therapy for melanoma. In order to help the clinical diagnosis and treatment of CMM,we review the recent studies on the role of autophagy genes,Beclin 1 and MAP1LC3 in melanoma.
