Preliminary Research on Pheasants in Wuyishan Nature Reserve,Jiangxi Province

Preliminary research on pheasant resources in Jiangxi Wuyishan National Nature Reserve was carried out from September 2004 to May 2008.Seven pheasant species,Arborophila gingica,Bambusicola thoracica,Tragopan caboti,Lophura nycthemera,Pucrasia macrolopha,Phasianus colchicus,and Syrmaticus ellioti were documented in the reserve.They belong to 7 genera(representing 33.3% of all genera found in China)and 7 species(representing 12.7% of all species found in China).Bambusicola thoracica,Lophura nycthemera and Tragopan caboti were common species in the area.Preliminary analysis of habitat selection and habitat use,biological characteristics,and disaster climates to the species were included in this study.
