摘要
This study explored the mediating effects of accepting differences and conflict resolution strategies on the relationship between narcissism and couple relationship satisfaction. Data from 300 individuals, who were either currently in a relationship or had dating experience, were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results showed that vulnerable and grandiose narcissism did not have a direct significant effect on relationship satisfaction; however, vulnerable narcissism had a significant negative effect on relationship satisfaction through accepting differences and positive conflict resolution strategies as mediators. Grandiose narcissism had a significant positive effect on relationship satisfaction through positive conflict resolution strategies. In addition, the sequential mediating effects of accepting differences and positive conflict resolution strategies were significant for the relationship between vulnerable/grandiose narcissism and relationship satisfaction. Furthermore, sex-based differences were observed. For men, the mediating effect of accepting differences was prominent in the relationship between narcissism and relationship satisfaction, whereas for women, the mediating effect of positive conflict resolution strategies was prominent. These findings support the theoretical propositions of Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT; Christensen & Jacobson, 1998), and suggest that a differentiated approach based on both subtypes of narcissism and sex should be considered to improve satisfaction in couples' relationships.
