摘要
To boost the electrocatalytic biomass conversion into value-added products using green energy, constructing porous electrocatalysts is an optimal strategy from the standpoint of enriching the amount and the accessibility of active sites. In this discussion, we attempt to elaborate on the advantages of porous materials for biomass conversion. First, traditional porous metal composites and the promising metal–organic frameworks ( MOFs ) and covalent organic frameworks ( COFs ) for electrochemical biomass oxidation reactions are elaborated based on their components with special attention on the structure–functional relationship of MOFs and COFs. Second, porous metal composites and MOF derivatives for the electrochemical biomass reduction reactions were summarized based on their functional elements. Other influential factors for biomass hydrogenation, such as synergistic effects, are also summarized. Finally, future research directions for biomass conversion on porous electrocatalysts are discussed.
