The surface activities of a commercial cationic gemini surfactant PF-CGS at 25℃ in pure water, saturated NaCl brine,as well as saturated NaCl brine containing 1000 mg·L-1 Ca2+ and Mg2+ were examined. For comparison, the surface activities of these solutions after 16h of age at 135℃ were also investigated. It was found that CMC,C20 and γCMC of PF-CGS solution would decrease upon increasing salinity of the surfactant solution, and after ageing,γCMC did not change, while CMC and C20 decreased in some extent compared with those found in non-aging solutions. These results shows cationic gemini surfactant posses good salt-tolerance and hear-resistance and has good potential to be used in high-temperature and high-salinity oil reservoir environment.
