International Atomic Agency (IAEA)

In 1985, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) continued its activities to increase the contributions of atomic energy to peace, health and prosperity all over the world and to ensure that its assistance was not used for military purposes. Emphasis continued to be placed on safeguards, the safety of nuclear power stations, nuclear fuelcycle services and the management of nuclear wastes, and on the provision of technical assistance to member States, especially developing countries.
