Landing Gear

Abstract Landing gear systems involve several unique issues that differentiate them from other aircraft systems and the airframe itself. These differences mean that often an alternative approach has to be taken with landing gear structural health monitoring solutions. This article discusses past and present approaches for monitoring the movable aspects of the landing gear, methods for detecting landing gear transient overloads, techniques for measuring the forces seen by the landing gear structure, and methods for determining the fatigue state of landing gear structure.
