Polyaspartic acid(PASP) was synthesized from maleic anhydride and ammonium salt.The structure of PASP was characterized by IR and TG-DTA.The optimal reaction conditions at 180 ℃ for 1.0 h were as follows: maleic anhydride was 200 mmol,n(maleic anhydride) ∶n(ammonium carbonate) =1.0 ∶1.2.The yield of PASP with 8 600 molecular weight was 98.11% under the optimal reaction conditions.
