Olmesartan:a novel angiotensin II receptor antagonist

Olmesartan is the most recently developed angiotensin Ⅱ receptor antagonist. The efficacy of olmesartan medoxomil in the treatment of various stages of hypertension has been demonstrated in well designed clinical trials. Olmesartan is well tolerated and its adverse reaction is similar to that of placebo. This paper reviews the progress in the pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and clinical studies of olmesartan.
