A scrap preheating model was developed to study the characteristics of scrap preheating in Fuchs finger shaft furnace(FSF) as a sub model of dynamic simulation for FSF.The parameters can be calculated by the model are: the scrap temperature at the entry to the melting furnace,as the initial data for dynamic simulation,the temperature distribution of scrap column during preheating with closed fingers,as the guide for the operators to select proper kind of scrap to be preheated,ensuring that the highest local temperature in scrap column is less than 1000 ℃,to prevent sticking of scrap to the finger or shaft wall,the average temperature of different preheated scrap,as initial data for optimization of energy structure.Some advices are provided to use scrap preheating technology more reasonably in China,where the quality of scrap is relatively bad.
