Objective To understand the epidemiological features of measles and to provide scientific basis for controlling and preventing measles in Shajing Street of Baoan District. Methods Statistical analysis was conducted on the data of measles reported from Shajing Street in 2006. Results A total of 209 cases were reported in 2006, and the incidence was 28.64/100,000. The epidemic season was mainly in May, June and July. The patients were mainly migrant workers aged between 20 and 30 years and native children under 4. 86.6% of the cases were not immunized or with a dubious immunization history. Conclusions The measles incidence in 2006 is significantly higher than that of the former years. For reducing the incidence of measles, it is necessary to put emphasis on the migrant workers aged between 20 and 30 years and the children under 4 year-old, and strengthen the measles vaccination properly.
