CHARACTERISTICS OF BENTONITE AND ITS SYNERGISTIC RETENTION EFFECT WITH CPAM ON WHEAT STRAW PULP

The various properties of bentonite samples withdifferent sources and their synergistic retention effectwith CPAM on wheat straw pulps were investigated.The investigated properties of bentonite includedadsorptive capacity based on methylene blue,cation-exchange capacity, swelling volume, colloidalvolume, particle size and charge properties. Theresults show that particle size is the most importantproperties of bentonite for its synergistic retentioneffect with CPAM. Using Wyoming type sodiumbentonite without drying after modification canobtain the excellent furnishes retention.
