The migration of almost all forms of communication to Internet Protocol (IP) based applications presents an imminent and significant challenge to educators in both traditional telecommunications and contemporary networking programs. Previously existing models, standards and curricula will quickly be out-dated if they aren't already. The rapid rate of change of communication methodologies requires that educational units react quickly to provide lecture content and lab based materials to adequately prepare students for employment or advanced study the new marketplace. This paper starts with a problem expressed by recent graduates from our program and then seeks to provide an answer to the problem by outlining a lab infrastructure and course of study for graduates of any communications program.
