Treatment of Xanthoma Disseminatum With Narrowband UV-B Phototherapy

Xanthoma disseminatum (XD) is a rare non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis that is characterized by the proliferation of histiocytic cells and secondary deposition of lipids in the dermis, which can affect people at any age. Men are more commonly affected than women.1 Treating XD is challenging. We present a patient with XD with marked facial involvement who was successfully treated with narrowband UV-B (NB-UV-B) phototherapy.
