Role of complement cascade in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion inflammatory injury

Ischemic cerebrovascular disease and ischemic reperfusion injury severely threaten human health.The inflammatory fragment of excessive activation of the complement system is one of the most important initiating factors of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.This paper has reviewed the complement expression,complement activation at time of cerebral ischemia,injury mechanisms of activated complement fragments on brain and complement inhibitors in cerebral ischemia and reperfusion.
