Research Progress of Fish Ghrelin

Ghrelin is a 28 amino acid peptide with a fatty acid chain modification on the N-terminal third amino acid.The discovery of Ghrelin has broadened our understanding of the regulation of energy homeostasis in vertebrates.It was shown that Ghrelin was related to a series of biological functions and effects including stimulating GH release,promoting food intake and adiposity,it also influenced many other hormone release and regulated GH/IGFF-1 axis.The biological functions of Ghrelin were achieved through binding with the growth hormone(GH) of secretagogue receptor-1a(GHSR-1a).According to these important biological functions,the research progress of Ghrelin was reviewed.
