Effect of risperidone on life quality in schizophrenics:Meta-analysis

Objective:To understand further the effect of risperidone on the quality of life in schizophrenics. Method:Meta analysis was made for 10 papers published about comparative studies of risperidone and other antipsychotics which affected the life quality in schizophrenics. Results:On the aspects of physiological health,psychological health and social function,the average effects within risperidone group were respectively 1.03,1.42,1.76 in turn,and 95% CI were(0.39,1.66),(0.49,2.35),(0.93,2.60).Average effects between risperidone group and non-risperidone group were respectively 1.01,1.13,1.41 in turn,and 95% CI were(0.52,1.51),(0.28,1.98),(0.70,2.12).All the data had statistical meaning. Conclusion:Risperidone is superior to clozapine and the typical antipsychotics in improving the quality of life in schizophrenics.
