Case Study of High-Voltage Power Cable Fault Based on High-Frequency Partial Discharge Detection

Due to its low frequency of monitoring, vulnerability to external interference and requirements of power outage, previous partial discharge detection is no longer suitable for on-site live detection. High-frequency partial discharge detection reflects the defect and aging state of the cable, and it is the most direct way to judge the reliability and the insulation state of the cable. The study and application of high-frequency partial discharge detection, strengths of which has been recognized internationally, provides the basis for the future state detection and fault diagnosis. This paper introduces a case study that the partial discharge signal is finally confirmed to be the suspension discharge signal in the cable GIS gas chamber, using high-frequency partial discharge on-line detection technology, after noticing a high-frequency discharge signal on a 110kV interval line, which has been repeatedly detected and analyzed.
