Understanding Family Loyalty through the Work of Ivan Boszormenyi-Nagy

This paper argues that discussions about loyalty conflicts in children should take the work of Ivan Boszormenyi-Nagy into account. It suggests that loyalty conflicts are unavoidable because of the nature of loyalty itself. However, it also shows that it is possible to diminish the clinical consequences of loyalty conflicts in situations of mixed origins if one relies on the basic principles of contextual therapy. It also addresses the issue of split loyalties and invisible loyalties.
