Biosynteza lowastatyny przez Aspergillus terreus

Summary In this paper, the review of the latest advances in the biosynthesis of statins, especially of lovastatin by Aspergillus terreus is presented. The following problems were discussed: the discovery of statins and isolation of the producing strains, the biochemical mechanism of lovastatin biosynthesis and the influence of medium composition on the lovastatin biosynthesis, and morphology of Aspergillus terreus hyphae.
