25—A CENTRIFUGE METHOD FOR MEASURING THE ABSORBENCY OF TEXTILE FIBRES: PART I. THE DEVELOPMENT OF A CENTRIFUGE METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE ABSORBENCY OF SCOURED FIBRES

The centrifuge method for the measurement of the water retention of fibre masses has been examined critically. The effects of variations in the arbitrary conditions of the test have been investigated and are described in this paper. Conditions of test are suggested for the routine determination of the absorbency of fibres intended for use as surgical dressings. The conditions are particularly applicable to scoured cotton.
