OBJECTIVE To study strategies of decreasing the incisional wound infection rate in the operating room. METHODS Four risk factors of infection were chosen to be the basis of comparing patients′ infection ~index, and a targeted and priority-focused surveillance among surgeons in their operations was taken to analyze and investigate the infection rate of operation incision. RESULTS The infection rate increased with the rising of the infection index (P0.01). The infection rate of unclean ~operation incisions was higher than that of clean ~operation incisions obviously (P0.01). The infection rate of complete anesthetized ~operation incisions was higher than that of incomplete anesthetized operation incisions (P0.05). The infection rate of operation ~incisions rose with lengthening operation time, which was no important significance in statistics (P0.05). CONCLUSIONS Monitoring the infection rate of operation incisions by surgeons is a useful method to decrease the infection rate and keep the rate low and improve medical quality.
